How is surgery performed?
The classical procedure,( Arthrotomy) require a large incision, several weeks on crutches, and several months of rehabilitation.

Arthroscopy involves inserting a tiny fiber optic telescope into the joint through a small incision. Fluid is then inserted into the joint to widen it. Then, using miniature instruments which may be as small as 1/10 of an inch, the structures are examined and the surgery is performed.

With the aid of physiotherapy program the patient can generally start playing sports within 4-6 weeks.

For the Meniscus repair procedure, the torn meniscus is fixed together until it can heal . During the rehabilitation process, weight bearing on the joint is not allowed for at least 3 weeks after surgery. After 4 weeks you can start walking using the hinged knee brace.
