The world’s greatest outdoor museum, Luxor is the centre of some of the most
magnificent remains of Pharaonic, Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt. On the East Bank
stand Luxor and Karnak temples, the latter being the largest and oldest temple
compound on earth. Queen Hatshepsut’s temple is built into the rock face and
was dedicated to the first female Pharoah to rule ancient Egypt. The great
city’s necropolis contains the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens
and Tombs of the Nobles among other spectacular antiquities.
